On November 5, 2024, the Ontario Court of Appeal released its decision in the Anti-SLAPP case - and we won! The Court has dismissed the Waterloo Region District School Board’s anti-SLAPP appeal, allowing Carolyn's defamation lawsuit to proceed to trial.
A few powerful highlights made by the Court of Appeal For Ontairo:
As Carolyn mentioned in her message this morning, “this victory is particularly meaningful because the Court addressed the heart of our fight: the right to speak truthfully about important issues affecting children, even when those issues are sensitive like gender.”
Aren't these sensitive issues precisely the ones that demand open dialogue and honest discourse? How else can we discern the best decisions for our greatest and most precious responsibility—our children?
We thank you, Carolyn. And although this saga isn’t over, we stand by you steadfast. Truth will always prevail.
This victory belongs to all of us - to everyone who has stood by me, supported me, and believed in the importance of this fight. Together, we're showing that ordinary citizens can stand up to powerful institutions and defend our right to speak truthfully about important issues affecting our children.
